FINAL REMINDERS
Prioritize anything that requires a technician, replacement parts or specialized
fitting in September and October. Waxing skis, cleaning shells and organizing
packs can be done later; binding issues, boot problems and damaged technical
safety equipment should not be left until the first powder day.
For backcountry sports, gear checks are only one part of readiness: confirm the
forecast, understand the terrain and make conservative decisions based on actual
conditions.
